Recycled and Green Gifts a Great Way to Say Thanks for Everything

Current offerings that make delightful hostess gifts range from picture frames made from vinyl LP records and stationery made from outdated topographical maps to a clever folding basket made from recycled chopsticks and handmade linen towels and sachets that are printed with flowers and leaves from the artist's garden.
"Many of our items, like the travel kit bag made from recycled billboards and the luggage tags made from discarded circuit boards, are extremely light, which makes them easy to carry with you on a vacation visit," Kazmann said.
One of the most exciting additions to the Eco-Artware collection is hand-crafted soaps from Afghanistan. The delicately scented Arghand soaps are made from locally grown natural ingredients including pomegranates, almonds and roses. Each bar is hand-molded to resemble a river-polished lump of local marble.
Another part of the new eco-awareness is a concern for how products are produced and their effect on local communities. Arghand soaps are produced by a privately funded cooperative started in 2005 by American journalist Sarah Chayes near Kandahar, an area long known for its fruits and flowers. The co-op buys all the ingredients for its soaps from local farmers to diversify the local economy. Eco-Artware also offers hand-woven decorative baskets made from recycled telephone wire by a group of South African Zulu weavers who have been working together for 20 years.
Eco-Artware has also seen an increase in customers in search of unusual gifts for wedding couples. The site offers a range of remarkable decorative and functional items in every category from hand-carved wooden spoons and spatulas to CD racks and ? and in every price range, as well.
